Brad Carr, CEO of Carr’s Tree Service, a dual-accredited, 25-year TCIA member company based in Ottertail, Minnesota, stepped down from that position at the beginning of this year. Jacob “Jake” Carr, Brad’s son and the company’s chief operating officer for the last five years, stepped into his father’s spot as CEO.

Brad spent 48 years with the company since its inception in 1972. What began as a family business started by Brad’s father, Ted Carr, in 1974, along with his four sons, now has 255 full-time employees covering Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa, doing everything from plant health care, tree removal and pruning to utility-line clearance and vegetation management for all levels of government.

“Brad’s energy will be missed. He brought entrepreneurship to everything he did. ‘Passionate’ and ‘determined’ would be two words to describe Brad, and we thank him for everything he brought to the company over the years as he will look forward to spending more time on the water and with his 13 grandchildren,” says Jake Carr.

“Brad always stated, ‘If we can go a whole year without an injury, I will retire.’ As one of his biggest accomplishments, CTS had gone 1,036 days without a missed day at the time of his retirement,” says Jake.
