Your Boots Are Your Solemates – Love Them, or They Will Leave You

Take the time to care for your footwear, just like you would your chain saw or climbing gear. When everyone else might be ready to head home after working in the rain and mud, boot-smart arborists will take the time to clean and dry their boots to assure long-lasting wear and comfort.

It’s easy enough to maintain your boots. Clean them once a month, or right after stepping in something mushy. Use a stiff nylon brush or soft cloth and lukewarm water to gently remove caked-on mud, grass and everything else you’ve stepped in.

You also can clean the inside of your boots with a low-pH shampoo, making sure to rinse it out thoroughly. Don’t clean with solvents, and don’t throw your boots into the washing machine. Air dry them slowly for best results.
