Amy Burkett was sworn in to a three-year term on the Tree Care Industry Association Board of Directors during a virtual ceremony held during TCIA’s Annual Meeting, also held virtually this year, on February 8.
Burkett is co-owner, along with her husband, Tyler, and CEO of Burkett Arbor Care, LLC, a seven-year TCIA member company based in Boerne, Texas.
Burkett and incumbent director Josh Morin were among a number of candidates nominated last summer for the two positions on the ballot for this year’s election. The TCIA Nomination Committee then presented four candidates to the sitting Board, which narrowed the field down to two, Burkett and Morin, for the ballot presented to members for a vote last fall. Morin was re-elected to his second term. This will be Burkett’s first term.
Burkett assessed the industry today this way. “While the industry is rapidly advancing in many ways, we need to continue capitalizing on our momentum,” she says. “We must continue focusing on overall image and optics of the industry by making professionalism and safety a top priority. Engaging younger generations, minorities and women is going to be key to a successful future.”
