Apax Funds buys SavATree, which recently bought Preservation Tree and Giroud Tree and Lawn

Apax Funds, a private equity firm, purchased SavATree in August 2021 from CI Capital Partners, also a private equity firm. SavATree, an accredited, 35-year TCIA member company headquartered in Bedford Hills, New York, services customers in 27 states through 58 locations.

“We’ve built SavATree into a company that people trust and rely upon across the U.S., and Apax has the experience and know-how to help us achieve our ambitious, global growth plans while staying true to our customer-centric, environmentally responsible approach,” says Daniel van Starrenburg, executive chairman of SavATree.

SaveATree also has continued to expand. In July 2021, it bought Preservation Tree Services, an accredited, 21-year TCIA member company headquartered in Dallas, Texas, with branches in Fort Worth and Anna. It also recently acquired Giroud Tree and Lawn, an accredited, 34-year TCIA member company based in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania.

Principals of Preservation Tree, AJ Thibodeaux, Pauline Perry and Andy Spiegel, along with their team of arborists, technicians and office personnel, will stay on with SavATree. “From our arborists to our office staff, we have built a team that is devoted to serving our valued customers. As we merge with SavATree, our staff will continue this mission with an even greater set of resources and service offerings,” says Thibodeaux, Preservation Tree’s CEO.

Giroud Tree and Lawn principals Lou Giroud and Drew Slousky and their staff will stay on with SavATree. “We know that this partnership will help us meet and exceed our customers’ expectations and allow us to continue to provide the level of high-quality tree and lawn care that they have grown accustomed to over the past 47 years,” says Giroud.
