A worker was seriously injured in a woodchipper accident September 23, 2024, in Longmont, Colorado. John O’Neil, 33, of Broomfield, Colo., had just started his first day on the job when he inserted a J-shaped branch into the chipper. The chipper infeed twisted the branch, causing it to catch on O’Neil’s court-mandated ankle bracelet. He was pulled into the chipper and lost both of his legs before co-workers were apparently able to stop the machine, according to a Broomfield Enterprise report.
