Launched as a Terex Corporation brand in 2024, Green-Tec may be a relatively new player in the tree care market, but it is no longer so “green.” Backed by Terex, the brand has quickly emerged as a notable presence in the industry, driven in part by its TH3 tree handler.

Finding its place
Green-Tec’s focus fits naturally within Terex’s broader portfolio, which spans multiple segments, from specialty vehicles such as ambulances and fire trucks to materials processing and utility equipment.

Jamie Mairs, Green-Tec’s business line director, explains how the brand fits within that structure. “We launched in 2024 as a brand-new business unit that was developed organically within Terex,” Mairs says. “We sit within the environmental pillar of the Terex Materials Processing portfolio and focus exclusively on tree care and vegetation-management solutions.”

Global reach, local support
As part of a multinational organization, Green-Tec operates in Europe and maintains a strong presence in North America, where its connection with customers is most direct. According to Mairs, that global footprint – combined with Terex’s international scale – is a key differentiator.

“We have a vast manufacturing footprint in the United Kingdom, Germany and the United States,” Mairs says. “As part of Terex, we’re able to leverage the experience across all our business units and create products specific to the tree care industry. Smaller, privately owned businesses don’t have that opportunity, and that’s what really sets us apart.”

That scale allows Green-Tec to offer a broad range of equipment – including tree handlers, spider lifts, mulchers, shredders, trommels and chippers – tailored to different types of tree care work. Mairs emphasizes that equipment selection ultimately comes down to the right fit.

“Tree care is all about safety and efficiency,” he says. “We can supply a TH3 tree handler, which can take down a full tree safely in minutes, but that’s a big investment for some companies and requires suitable work.” For tighter access sites or different job types, he notes, spider lifts can offer a quicker, safer solution than climbing. “It’s really about finding the machine that’s right for the company and the type of work they’re doing,” Mairs says.
Support infrastructure is another area where Green-Tec benefits from its relationship with Terex.

“We also have a large network of local distributors, which is something that Terex does very well,” Mairs notes. “There is a good structure in place to so that our customers have access to parts and service, and that means the customer has an expert in their area who can help them.”

That network is backed by U.S.-based operations. “We have a factory based in Newton, New Hampshire, and a massive parts facility in Louisville, Kentucky, which highlights a very U.S.-centric support system,” says Mairs.

Connected for performance
Beyond its local parts and support network, Green-Tec differentiates itself through the technology built into its equipment. Many of the brand’s machines incorporate advanced telemetry systems designed to support uptime and long-term performance for tree care operations.

“We have telemetry in a lot of our products, which allows remote access to certain parameters on the machines for the local distributor or the factory,” Mairs explains. “Meaning we can monitor how the machine has been running or if any fault codes have been highlighted. From there, we can provide remote diagnostics and make suggestions to ensure the unit is kept in its optimal working condition.”

Partnering with VOSCH
While the TH3 tree handler stands out on its own – with 49 feet of reach and a raisable cab – its performance ultimately depends on the attachment at the end of the boom. That meant working with VOSCH Equipment and standardizing the TH3 around the company’s BKS 1610 grapple saw.

“VOSCH is a separate company, but we only supply our machine with their BKS 1610 grapple saw,” Mairs says, adding that it’s the industry-leading grapple saw.

That decision reflects Green-Tec’s focus on performance at full reach, where attachment design plays a critical role in safety and control. The technical advantage comes from the saw’s tilt system, which is powered by a cylinder rather than a rotator and generates 82 kNm of tilting force. That design delivers greater precision and control during cutting – particularly at maximum extension, where consistency matters most.

“A tree-handler’s performance is only as good as its attachment,” notes Mairs. “We chose VOSCH for its strong reputation, and its design offers excellent performance at full reach.”

Connecting with TCIA
For Green-Tec, joining a national industry association was a natural extension of its focus on safety, training and product development. Becoming a TCIA corporate member provided a direct way to engage with experienced professionals across the tree care industry while continuing to refine its equipment.

“TCIA membership was an obvious path as it enables us to collaborate with experts across the industry,” Mairs says. “We wanted to connect with critical thinkers across the segment. Aligning with TCIA felt like a natural step as we continue to refine and develop our products – we want to talk to everybody to get their feedback and get their opinions on what could be done better.”

That engagement has expanded Green-Tec’s visibility within the market and reinforced its emphasis on training and safety.

“It’s given us exposure to many tree care customers, other manufacturers and training partners that are so visible in the market,” Mairs says. “TCI’s strong focus on training directly supports improved safety, which is central to our machinery and to the wider concept of ‘mechanized arboriculture.’ It offers a safer and more efficient way of working, but there will always be space and a need for climbers in this special industry.”

Conclusion
As Green-Tec continues to build recognition in the tree care market, its backing within a larger organization – and its emphasis on building relationships across the industry – positions the brand for long-term growth.

Mairs adds that the focus remains on offering solutions that fit a wide range of customer needs, while prioritizing service and support.

“I think from a product standpoint, we want to highlight our wide range, and that we are likely to have the right solution for you,” he says. “Our focus has always been on our local distributor network, as we recognize this is what’s most important to the customer: uptime! Having experts in your area who can support you technically or with parts is of the utmost importance and ensures a happy customer every time.”
