PlanIT Geo Land Cover and Tree Equity (LCTE) Data Pack

PlanIt Geo urban forstry toolPlanIT Geo’s new Land Cover and Tree Equity (LCTE) Data Pack is designed for urban-forest planning, combining tree canopy, equity and inventory data. It combines GIS reference layers of federally designated, disadvantaged communities with land-cover statistics (e.g., amount of existing tree cover, impervious surface area). The information is accessible and visualized within PlanIT Geo’s TreePlotter mapping interface to inform planting and maintenance priorities and streamline grant-reporting requirements. Inflation Reduction Act funding for urban-forestry grants requires “no-match” grant awardees to demonstrate that 100% of their project benefits goes to disadvantaged communities. PlanIT Geo designed the LCTE Data Pack, an add-on to its TreePlotter Inventory software, to help grant recipients and applicants better track their impact. Communities can view disadvantaged areas within their community and filter them by existing canopy cover. With data updated continuously, users can monitor gains or losses in tree canopy. The new data pack is designed to allow urban foresters to easily pull up exact numbers on what they’re doing in each neighborhood and to project the expected beneficial impacts.
