The F.A. Bartlett Tree Expert Company announced March 17 that it has expanded on Long Island with the acquisition of Fox Tree Care, a boutique tree care company that has been in business for 45 years.
Bart Fusco, owner of Fox Tree Care, said he sold company to Bartlett as he prepares for retirement because of its leadership in scientific tree care. Bartlett offered the right cultural fit, Fusco said, because both “operate under very similar philosophies.” Fox Tree Care has been offering integrated pest management (IPM) services to its customers for many years. The company built a solid reputation on Long Island for designing and implementing programs to help control and prevent harmful insect infestations and diseases on trees and shrubs in the landscape.
Fox Tree customers who have benefitted from the company’s scientific plant health care services will gain Bartlett’s scientific approach to tree and shrub care “on a whole new level,” said David McMaster, Vice President and Division Manager of the Long Island Division. “This will provide access to our Bartlett Tree Research Laboratories and technical experts to ensure healthy, beautiful landscapes.”
Fox Tree Care is keeping its name as a Division of Bartlett. Bartlett currently has Long Island offices in Huntington, Southampton, and Westbury.
The acquisition is Bartlett’s third in a two-week period. Two other acquisitions were recently closed in Palo Alto, California and Mount Desert Island, Maine.
Bartlett was founded in 1907. The Bartlett Research Laboratories, in Charlotte, NC employs a team of 13 PhDs in fields such as soil science, plant pathology, entomology, and horticulture, enabling the company to provide species-specific tree and shrub care plans for its customers. Bartlett’s arborists provide services from 153 operations in 39 U.S. states, Canada, Ireland and Great Britain. The company has a training center in Mexico. Corporate offices are located in Stamford, CT.
